iPad Keyboards

iPad KeyboardIf there’s one thing we know for sure about Apple’s new iPad it’s that the accessories don’t agree with everything Apple has done so far. During iPad’s launch during the previous week, we witnessed the launching of the most innovative add-ons for iPad as well.

The most obvious accessory buyers search forfirst is the keyboard. Apple disclosed its keyboard and connector at $69. It is a an entirely fantastic add-on for those of us familiar with Apple’s present product line. For one thing, this add-on really makes the iPad less portable and it makes us wonder if the iPad could genuinely fulfill its promise of being a mobile electronic device.

Let’s wait until we see the iPad in shops and instead look at the keypad’s features first. This is a usual but smaller Apple keypad that you would ordinarily find with the new iMac and comes with a plastic connector. Apple’s keyboards are outstanding. The aluminum structure makes them durable and their flat key style makes them ideal for touch typing – the idea that they’re stunningly basic and exquisite is just an added bonus. So we’re okay with the keypad but thenlet’s talk about the plastic connector.

Apple has an unsatisfactory track record on the plastics front. Apple’s previous generation Macbook (white casing) had many problems with cracking and flaying on its surface because of the poor quality of its plastics. My concern with this connector will be that with the weight of the iPad (1.5 pounds) and with Apple’s plastics reputation we might see some similar problems with cracking. Time can tell and only hands on user experience can decide but altogether this add-on should hold its own. In the future, it may be a better idea to use an aluminum connector to assure iPads’ durability.
